Chatting with Jordy Poon

We recently had the chance to meet with Canadian make-up artist Jordy Poon while he was in town promoting “5 minute” makeovers. Jordy has worked with celebrities including Sienna Miller, Alexis Bledel and Molly Sims. While he was doing my “5 minute” makeover, we got chatting on “do’s” and “don’ts” for brides on their wedding day, plus the brides “must have” makeup kit for their big day.

1. Cetaphil Cleansing Cloth

Cetaphil is perfect for all skin types, is dermatologist recommended and comes in a nice on-the-go package. Prior to putting on your make-up, you can use a cleansing cloth to prep your skin. They’re also great to blotch off excess oil and make-up during the wedding day. During your wedding, your make-up can easily smudge or your skin can release oil; Cetaphil can be used to remove the smudge and oil without having to reapply your makeup. Just remember to dab and not smudge.

2. Individual Lashes

A must buy on Jordy’s list when getting married are individual lashes for your eyes! It’ll make your lashes look fuller plus if one of your lashes falls off – you won’t notice as they’re all individually glued on.

3. Eye Shadow

Eye shadow is not necessary, but since it’s your wedding day –why not! For eye shadow, rich colours are preferred over pastel colors. This season’s key colour is green. Jordy’s favors a pop of green lining on the top of the eyelid.

4. Essential Make-up Kit

It’s essential to bring a make-up kit with you on your wedding day. A few things to keep in your make-up kits are:

By bringing the sticks, it’ll keep everything compact and they’re all unbreakable – so no leakage!

I learnt a lot of make-up tips from Jordy and felt he did a wonderful job with my 5-minute makeover! I don’t usually wear make-up or have the time to wear make-up, so this 5 minutes makeover was perfect. It was a lot of fun and I am happy to share some of Jordy’s make-up knowledge.
