Vancity Venue: Inn at the Quay
In the heart of New Westminster, you will find Inn at the Quay, on the scenic Fraser River Boardwalk and next to the River Market. If you’re looking for an intimate wedding with waterfront view, this venue has it. Shannon Fisher, Catering Manager at Inn at the Quay gave us a tour of the venue and we are excited to share our experience.
When entering the hotel, you will notice a welcoming lobby where you will be able to place your wedding photos to welcome the guest. The ceremony takes place on the second floor on a private outdoor patio perched over the water or indoors in the Hyack room. They Hyack room is able to accommodate 150 guests and has floor-to-ceiling windows with stunning views. After the ceremony, the guests can relax and have refreshments at the mezzanine area while the reception is being prepared. The wedding party can take this time to go out and take photos around the pier, River Market, Front Street, Queens Park, etc. If the wedding party needs a break, they can go back to their Hospitality Room.
The Hospitality Room is a spacious room that many brides would book the night before their wedding day. The room has a stand-up mirror, a bar and a murphy’s bed that can be pushed upwards to make more room on the wedding day. They will also provide extra mirrors for the bridal party to use. There is also an adjoining room if you would like to book the room next door for the parents or bridal party.
The staff at Inn at the Quay will do the set-up for the reception, guestbook table, gift table, etc. After the reception, the bride & groom can dance the night away on the dance floor! The night doesn’t end there! The newlyweds can spend their special night in their Jacuzzi room!

How many people can the venue accommodate?
The Hyack Room can accommodate up to 150ppl
Can Ceremony & Reception be held at the venue?
Yes. Summer weddings can be held on our patio overlooking the Fraser River or in the case of inclement weather, inside Hyack South. Winter weddings we can also accommodate ceremonies inside Hyack South.
Is there inhouse catering, do they have the option of using outside catering?
All food and beverage is supplied by the Boathouse Restaurant attached to the hotel with the exception of wedding cakes and one ethnic dish.
What is the minimum price for booking the venue and what is included in the booking?
The Hyack Room rents for $1500.

Are there any limitations when booking?
The Hyack room holds up to 150ppl so this is the maximum guest count for our facilities. We love the intimate setting.

From the Catering Manager organizing weddings or the Front Desk team checking in wedding hotel guests, right through to the Banquet Team overseeing their event, everyone is invested into making the couple have the most memorable experience. As a smaller team we are all aware of the importance of the couple’s needs.Last year a New Westminster Artist and Designer made our Love Lock Sculpture which has aptly be named “Locked Inn Love”.
With Fraser River views from the wedding reception venue and patio, plus each guestroom ensures guests can relax from the hustle & bustle of their daily routine. If staying in the hotel for a number of nights, a walk along the Boardwalk is a must.
The surrounding area in New Westminster enhances the romance in and around the hotel.
What was one of your most memorable wedding experiences?
Each wedding is memorable and unique in every way as every couple is different and have their own ideas on what they want for their Special Day, whether it’s a very simplistic wedding or one that is more dramatic with a lot of décor.
What advice would you give an upcoming bride & groom?
I normally tell the couple to take all of the day in and enjoy the moment as it will go by fast.
